Another Major Chicken Recall Affects Texas
We have learned that the US Department of Agriculture has announced a recall on more chicken products, this on the heels of other major chicken recalls throughout the country. This time, the recall is coming from chicken distributed by Taylor Farms. There are approximately 2,100 pounds that were “incorrectly labeled and have undeclared allergens.”
The affected chicken was sent to distribution centers and retail stores around Texas. While it may not seem like a big deal, incorrectly labeling items can cause major harm to consumers. At the Law Office of Dorothy Hyde, we understand that there are many different ways that products we use every day can cause harm. If you need a Dallas product liability attorney, you can turn to us for help in getting the compensation you deserve.
What Can Happen?
We have seen plenty of recalls lately and many of them have revolved around chicken products, but there are plenty of others you may not have heard about. Recently, we have seen recalls for infant ibuprofen that can cause kidney failure, pita chips that can cause allergic reactions, and vehicle airbags that explode (again).
There are many things that can go wrong with a product. Today, we want to talk about the three basic ways that faulty products reach consumers.
If a product is poorly designed from the beginning, it can lead to major problems because that likely means that every unit is defective. Even though products undergo testing before they hit the market, that does not mean every flaw will be detected.
Manufacturing errors alter a product from their original design and can cause just as much harm as a design flaw. This can include contamination of food or medication.
Labeling problems cover a range of harmful possibilities. This can include products not having the correct instructions or dosages listed. It can mean the ingredient list is not complete or that hazards are not labeled.
If you go look at the government website that tracks current recalls, you will see just how many faulty products have made it to the market and into our homes. How many of these products do you have? If a manufacturer or company is the reason for a product’s flaws, they need to be held accountable for the injuries caused.
